Rules in Scotland
Label rules that apply in Marywell
Supplements sold from Marywell must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, regulated nationally by Food Standards Scotland. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by the council’s trading standards or environmental health team for Aberdeen.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Start with our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Questions from Marywell brands
Do I need to be based in Marywell to order?
No. We work online and deliver across the UK, so your location doesn’t matter. Marywell deliveries go by tracked courier to AB12.
Can pouches have a zip and window?
You can choose: resealable zips, tear notches, hang holes and clear windows, in a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We check against both sets of rules. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must work for that market. Let us know where your products go and we’ll cover both.
Are the pouches recyclable?
Mono-material pouches are available, designed for recycling where collection exists. Check the specification before you make any claim on pack.
Which labelling rules apply to supplements sold from Marywell?
Marywell is in Scotland, so the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003 apply, together with the general food information rules. Health claims must come from the GB nutrition and health claims register.
