Rules in Scotland
Supplement labelling rules for Mayfield
Supplements sold from Mayfield must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, regulated nationally by Food Standards Scotland. In Midlothian, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Begin with our label requirements checklist, and then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Questions from Mayfield brands
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We can check for both. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must work for that market. Tell us where you sell and we’ll cover both.
Do you send samples?
Yes. Request a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Mayfield, showing our materials and finishes.
What’s the minimum order for printed pouches?
Minimums depend on the pouch size and finish, and we quote them per design. For small quantities, use labels on stock pouches.
Are the pouches recyclable?
Mono-material pouches are available, designed for recycling where collection exists. Check the specification before you make any claim on pack.
How long do printed pouches take to reach Mayfield?
Pouches take longer to make than labels: we confirm the lead time with your quote, then delivery to Mayfield is usually the next working day after dispatch.
