Rules in Scotland
Labelling law for supplements from Cairnie
Any food supplement sold from Cairnie must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, regulated nationally by Food Standards Scotland. In Aberdeenshire, food labelling is enforced by council trading standards or environmental health staff.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Begin with our label requirements checklist, and then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Printed pouches for Cairnie brands
Printed pouches look more premium than a labelled stock pouch and save the time of applying labels. Digital printing means short runs per design, so you don’t need to commit to tens of thousands of units. Resealable zips, clear windows and tear notches are all available, in a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish. Not ready for a printed run? Begin with labels on stock pouches and switch later.

Common questions in Cairnie
Do you only work with Cairnie businesses?
No. We take orders online from anywhere in the UK, so it makes no difference where you’re based. Cairnie deliveries go out by tracked courier to AB54.
How long do printed pouches take to reach Cairnie?
Pouches take longer to make than labels: your quote includes the lead time, then delivery to Cairnie is usually two working days after dispatch.
Are the pouches recyclable?
We offer mono-material pouches, designed for recycling where collection exists. Check the specification before you make any claim on pack.
Which labelling rules apply to supplements sold from Cairnie?
Cairnie is in Scotland, so the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003 apply, together with the general food information rules. Health claims have to come from the GB nutrition and health claims register.
What’s the minimum order for printed pouches?
It depends on the pouch size and finish, and we quote them per design. For small quantities, label stock pouches instead.
