Rules in Wales
Labelling law for supplements from Dolau
Supplements sold from Dolau must meet the Food Supplements (Wales) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of the Food Standards Agency in Wales. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by the council’s trading standards or environmental health team.
Welsh-language text is optional on supplement labels. If you add it, both languages must be accurate and the mandatory text must still meet the 1.2 mm minimum x-height.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Printed pouches for Dolau brands
Printed pouches look more premium than a labelled stock pouch and save the time of applying labels. Digital printing means short runs per design, so you don’t need to commit to tens of thousands of units. Still testing a product? Start with labels on stock pouches and move to printed pouches once it sells. Resealable zips, clear windows and tear notches are all available, with matt, gloss or soft-touch finishes.

Dolau questions
Do you offer recyclable pouches?
We offer mono-material pouches, designed for recycling where collection exists. Check the specification before you make any claim on pack.
Can I add a zip or window to the pouch?
You can choose: zips, tear notches, hang holes and windows, in matt, gloss or soft-touch.
Which labelling rules apply to supplements sold from Dolau?
Dolau is in Wales, so the Food Supplements (Wales) Regulations 2003 apply, alongside the general food information rules. Health claims must come from the GB nutrition and health claims register.
How long do printed pouches take to reach Dolau?
Printed pouches take longer than labels: we confirm the lead time with your quote, then delivery to Dolau is usually the next working day after dispatch.
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We can check for both. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Tell us where you sell and we’ll check the label for each market.
