Supplement labelling rules for Pwllmeyric
Any food supplement sold from Pwllmeyric must meet the Food Supplements (Wales) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of the Food Standards Agency in Wales. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers.
Welsh-language text is optional on supplement labels. If you add it, both languages must be accurate and the mandatory text must still meet the 1.2 mm minimum x-height.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Questions from Pwllmeyric brands
Who checks supplement labels in Monmouthshire?
Food labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for Monmouthshire, overseen nationally by the Food Standards Agency in Wales. For advice councils must respect, you can set up a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We check against both sets of rules. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Let us know where your products go and we’ll check the label for each market.
Can pouches have a zip and window?
You can choose: resealable zips, tear notches, hang holes and clear windows, in matt, gloss or soft-touch.
Do you offer recyclable pouches?
Mono-material pouches are available, designed for recycling where collection exists. Check the specification before you make any claim on pack.
Do you only work with Pwllmeyric businesses?
No. We take orders online from anywhere in the UK, so it makes no difference where you’re based. Pwllmeyric orders go by tracked delivery to NP16.
