Rules in England
Labelling law for supplements from Whitehall
Any food supplement sold from Whitehall must meet the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003, overseen by the Food Standards Agency. Locally, food labelling is enforced by the council’s trading standards or environmental health team.
One label works across England, Scotland and Wales, since the supplement rules are the same across Great Britain.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Printed pouches for Whitehall brands
When a product is selling steadily, a printed pouch is often the next step from labels. We print your design directly onto the pouch, with the same compliance check as our labels. Still testing a product? Start with labels on stock pouches and move to printed pouches once it sells. Resealable zips, clear windows and tear notches can all be added, with matt, gloss or soft-touch finishes.

Common questions in Whitehall
Can I add a zip or window to the pouch?
You can choose: resealable zips, tear notches, hang holes and clear windows, in a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish.
How many pouches do I need to order?
It depends on the pouch size and finish, and we quote them per design. For a small first run, use labels on stock pouches.
Who enforces food labelling in West Sussex?
Supplement labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for West Sussex, overseen nationally by the Food Standards Agency. For advice councils must respect, consider a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We can check for both. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must work for that market. Let us know where your products go and we’ll check the label for each market.
What’s the lead time for pouches to Whitehall?
Pouches take longer to make than labels: we confirm the lead time with your quote, then delivery to Whitehall is usually the next working day after dispatch.
