Labelling law for supplements from Penallt
Products you sell from Penallt must meet the Food Supplements (Wales) Regulations 2003, overseen by the Food Standards Agency in Wales. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers.
Welsh-language text is optional on supplement labels. If you add it, both languages must be accurate and the mandatory text must still meet the 1.2 mm minimum x-height.

What if my labels are already printed?
We can still check them. If we find problems, we’ll tell you which are urgent and which can wait for your next print run.
Do you only work with Penallt businesses?
No. We take orders online from anywhere in the UK, so it makes no difference where you’re based. Penallt deliveries go by tracked delivery to NP25.
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We can check for both. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must work for that market. Tell us where you sell and we’ll cover both.
Do you send samples?
Yes. Ask for a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Penallt, so you can feel the materials and finishes.
Which labelling rules apply to supplements sold from Penallt?
Penallt is in Wales, so the Food Supplements (Wales) Regulations 2003 cover your label, alongside the general food information rules. Health claims have to come from the GB nutrition and health claims register.
