Supplement labelling rules for Houghton
Supplements sold from Houghton must meet the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of the Food Standards Agency. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers.
You can sell the same label in Scotland and Wales, since the supplement rules are the same across Great Britain.

Common questions in Houghton
Who enforces food labelling in West Sussex?
Food labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for West Sussex, overseen nationally by the Food Standards Agency. If you want assured advice, you can set up a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
Do you do range designs?
Yes. A range design gives you a system: colour coding by benefit, a shared back-panel layout and templates for future products.
Do you send samples?
Yes. Ask for a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Houghton, so you can feel the materials and finishes before you order.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We check against both sets of rules. Northern Ireland follows EU food law, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must work for that market. Tell us where you sell and we’ll check the label for each market.
Do you only work with Houghton businesses?
No. We work online and deliver across the UK, so your location doesn’t matter. Houghton deliveries go out by tracked delivery to BN18.
