Questions from Hurlford brands
Do you offer recyclable pouches?
We offer mono-material pouches, designed for recycling where collection exists. Check the specification before you make any claim on pack.
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We check against both sets of rules. Northern Ireland follows EU food law, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must work for that market. Tell us where you sell and we’ll check the label for each market.
Who enforces food labelling in East Ayrshire?
Supplement labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for East Ayrshire, overseen nationally by Food Standards Scotland. For advice councils must respect, consider a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
Do you send samples?
Yes. Ask for a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Hurlford, so you can feel the materials and finishes.
How many pouches do I need to order?
Minimums depend on the pouch size and finish, and we quote them per design. For a small first run, use labels on stock pouches.
Printed pouches for Hurlford brands
When a product is selling steadily, a printed pouch is often the next step from labels. We print your design directly onto the pouch, with the same compliance check as our labels. Not ready for a printed run? Start with labels on stock pouches and move to printed pouches once it sells. Resealable zips, clear windows and tear notches can all be added, in a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish.

Rules in Scotland

Any food supplement sold from Hurlford must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, regulated nationally by Food Standards Scotland. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by council trading standards or environmental health staff.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Begin with our label requirements checklist, then review your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.
