Rules in Scotland
Label rules that apply in Musselburgh
Products you sell from Musselburgh must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, overseen by Food Standards Scotland. In East Lothian, food labelling is enforced by the council’s trading standards or environmental health team.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Start with our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Printed pouches for Musselburgh brands
Printed pouches look more premium than a labelled stock pouch and save the time of applying labels. Digital printing means short runs per design, so you don’t need to commit to tens of thousands of units. Not ready for a printed run? Begin with labels on stock pouches and switch later. Resealable zips, clear windows and tear notches can all be added, with matt, gloss or soft-touch finishes.

Common questions in Musselburgh
Do you send samples?
Yes, we can. Request a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Musselburgh, showing our materials and finishes before you order.
What’s the minimum order for printed pouches?
Minimums depend on the pouch size and finish, and we quote them per design. For small quantities, use labels on stock pouches.
Do I need to be based in Musselburgh to order?
No. We take orders online from anywhere in the UK, so it makes no difference where you’re based. Musselburgh deliveries go by tracked delivery to EH21.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We can check for both. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Tell us where you sell and we’ll check the label for each market.
Can I add a zip or window to the pouch?
You can choose: zips, tear notches, hang holes and windows, in a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish.
