Questions from Darvel brands
Who checks supplement labels in East Ayrshire?
Supplement labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for East Ayrshire, overseen nationally by Food Standards Scotland. If you want assured advice, consider a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
Can I add a zip or window to the pouch?
You can choose: zips, tear notches, hang holes and windows, in matt, gloss or soft-touch.
Can I see a sample before ordering?
Yes, we can. Ask for a sample pack and we’ll post it to your Darvel address, so you can feel the materials and finishes.
Do you only work with Darvel businesses?
No. We take orders online from anywhere in the UK, so it makes no difference where you’re based. Darvel deliveries go by tracked courier to KA17.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We can check for both. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Let us know where your products go and we’ll cover both.
Printed pouches for Darvel brands
Printed pouches look more premium than a labelled stock pouch and save the time of applying labels. Digital printing means short runs per design, so you don’t need to commit to tens of thousands of units. Resealable zips, clear windows and tear notches are all available, in a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish. Not ready for a printed run? Start with labels on stock pouches and switch later.

Rules in Scotland
Labelling law for supplements from Darvel
Products you sell from Darvel must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of Food Standards Scotland. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by council trading standards or environmental health staff for East Ayrshire.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Start with our label requirements checklist, then review your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.
