Rules in Scotland
Label rules that apply in Blackhill
Any food supplement sold from Blackhill must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, overseen by Food Standards Scotland. In the Orkney Islands, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers for the Orkney Islands.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Begin with our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Common questions in Blackhill
When will my labels arrive in Blackhill?
Usually two working days after dispatch. We print in 3 to 5 working days after you approve the proof, so most Blackhill orders arrive about a week after you send artwork.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We can check for both. Northern Ireland follows EU food law, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Let us know where your products go and we’ll cover both.
Do you only work with Blackhill businesses?
No. We work online and deliver across the UK, so your location doesn’t matter. Blackhill deliveries go by tracked courier to KW15.
Can you print batch codes and dates?
We can. Our digital press adds a different batch and date to each run, so you don’t need a separate coder for short runs.
Is there a minimum order?
No fixed minimum. Many new brands start with 250 labels, and you can mix several designs in one order.
