Briggate questions
Which material is best for a protein tub?
White polypropylene with a laminate. It copes with powder, moisture and handling, and stays put on curved plastic.
Which labelling rules apply to supplements sold from Briggate?
Briggate is in England, so the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003 apply, as well as the general food information rules. Health claims have to come from the GB nutrition and health claims register.
Do you only work with Briggate businesses?
No. We take orders online from anywhere in the UK, so it makes no difference where you’re based. Briggate orders go out by tracked courier to NR28.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We check against both sets of rules. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Tell us where you sell and we’ll cover both.
Who enforces food labelling in Norfolk?
Supplement labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for Norfolk, overseen nationally by the Food Standards Agency. If you want assured advice, consider a Primary Authority partnership with a council.

Rules in England
Labelling law for supplements from Briggate
Any food supplement sold from Briggate must meet the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of the Food Standards Agency. Locally, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers.
You can sell the same label in Scotland and Wales, since the supplement rules are the same across Great Britain.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.
