Grimness questions
Who checks supplement labels in the Orkney Islands?
Food labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for the Orkney Islands, with national oversight from Food Standards Scotland. For advice councils must respect, consider a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
What label suits a powder tub?
White polypropylene with a laminate. It stands up to powder, moisture and handling, and stays put on curved plastic.
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We can check for both. Northern Ireland follows EU food law, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Tell us where you sell and we’ll cover both.
When will my labels arrive in Grimness?
Usually two working days after dispatch. We print in 3 to 5 working days after you approve the proof, so the majority of Grimness orders arrive within about a week of sending artwork.
What’s the smallest run you print?
No fixed minimum. Many new brands start with 250 labels, and you can combine several designs in one order.

Rules in Scotland
Labelling law for supplements from Grimness
Products you sell from Grimness must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, regulated nationally by Food Standards Scotland. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Start with our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.
