Rules in Scotland
Labelling law for supplements from Hestingott
Products you sell from Hestingott must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of Food Standards Scotland. In the Shetland Islands, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers for the Shetland Islands.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Start with our label requirements checklist, and then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Usually two working days after dispatch. Printing takes 3 to 5 working days from proof approval, so most Hestingott orders arrive within about a week of sending artwork.

White polypropylene with a laminate. It copes with powder, moisture and handling, and doesn’t lift on a curved tub.
Who checks supplement labels in the Shetland Islands?
Supplement labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for the Shetland Islands, overseen nationally by Food Standards Scotland. For advice councils must respect, you can set up a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
What’s the smallest run you print?
There’s no fixed minimum. Short runs from 250 labels are common for new products, and you can mix several designs in one order.
Which labelling rules apply to supplements sold from Hestingott?
Hestingott is in Scotland, so the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003 apply, together with the general food information rules. Health claims must come from the GB nutrition and health claims register.
