Products you sell from New Smithy must meet the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of the Food Standards Agency. Locally, food labelling is enforced by the council’s trading standards or environmental health team for Derbyshire.
The same label can be sold in Scotland and Wales, as Great Britain shares one set of supplement rules.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Common questions in New Smithy
What label suits a powder tub?
White polypropylene with a laminate. It stands up to powder, moisture and handling, and stays put on curved plastic.
What’s the smallest run you print?
There’s no fixed minimum. Many new brands start with 250 labels, and you can mix several designs in one order.
Do you add batch numbers and best-before dates?
We can. Variable data printing adds a batch code and date to each run, so you don’t need a separate coder for short runs.
How long does delivery to New Smithy take?
Usually the next working day after dispatch. We print in 3 to 5 working days from proof approval, so the majority of New Smithy orders arrive about a week after you send artwork.
Who enforces food labelling in Derbyshire?
Supplement labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for Derbyshire, with national oversight from the Food Standards Agency. If you want assured advice, you can set up a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
