Rules in Scotland
Supplement labelling rules for Newbigging
Products you sell from Newbigging must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, overseen by Food Standards Scotland. Locally, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers for South Lanarkshire.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, and then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Questions from Newbigging brands
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We can check for both. Northern Ireland follows EU food law, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must work for that market. Let us know where your products go and we’ll cover both.
What’s the smallest run you print?
There’s no fixed minimum. Many new brands start with 250 labels, and you can mix several designs in one order.
Can I see a sample before ordering?
Yes, we can. Request a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Newbigging, so you can feel the materials and finishes before you order.
Do I need to be based in Newbigging to order?
No. We work online and deliver across the UK, so your location doesn’t matter. Newbigging orders go by tracked delivery to ML11.
What label suits a powder tub?
White polypropylene with a laminate. It stands up to powder, moisture and handling, and doesn’t lift on a curved tub.
