Rules in England
Labelling law for supplements from Portbury
Products you sell from Portbury must meet the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of the Food Standards Agency. At a local level, food labelling is enforced by the council’s trading standards or environmental health team.
You can sell the same label in Scotland and Wales, since the supplement rules are the same across Great Britain.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, and then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Portbury questions
Do I need to be based in Portbury to order?
No. We work online and deliver across the UK, so your location doesn’t matter. Portbury orders go by tracked courier to BS20.
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We can check for both. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must work for that market. Let us know where your products go and we’ll cover both.
Which labelling rules apply to supplements sold from Portbury?
Portbury is in England, so the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003 cover your label, together with the general food information rules. Health claims must come from the GB nutrition and health claims register.
When will my labels arrive in Portbury?
Usually the next working day after dispatch. We print in 3 to 5 working days after you approve the proof, so most Portbury orders arrive within about a week of sending artwork.
Can you print batch codes and dates?
We can. Our digital press adds a different batch and date to each run, so you don’t need a separate coder for short runs.
