Rules in Scotland
Label rules that apply in Stonehouse
Supplements sold from Stonehouse must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, regulated nationally by Food Standards Scotland. Locally, food labelling is enforced by council trading standards or environmental health staff.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
Begin with our label requirements checklist, then review your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Questions from Stonehouse brands
Is there a minimum order?
There’s no fixed minimum. Many new brands start with 250 labels, and you can mix several designs in one order.
When will my labels arrive in Stonehouse?
Usually the next working day after dispatch. We print in 3 to 5 working days from proof approval, so most Stonehouse orders arrive about a week after you send artwork.
Do you add batch numbers and best-before dates?
Yes. Our digital press adds a different batch and date to each run, so you don’t need a separate coder for short runs.
Do you check labels for Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain?
We can check for both. Northern Ireland follows EU food law, so claims must come from the EU register and the address must work for that market. Tell us where you sell and we’ll cover both.
Can I see a sample before ordering?
Yes, we can. Request a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Stonehouse, so you can feel the materials and finishes before you order.
