Rules in England
Labelling law for supplements from Carlton Husthwaite
Any food supplement sold from Carlton Husthwaite must meet the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003, under the oversight of the Food Standards Agency. In North Yorkshire, food labelling is enforced by the local authority’s trading standards or environmental health officers.
One label works across England, Scotland and Wales, because the supplement rules match across Great Britain.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, and then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Questions from Carlton Husthwaite brands
What if I sell in Northern Ireland too?
We check against both sets of rules. EU food law applies in Northern Ireland, so health claims must be on the EU register and the address must be in NI or the EU. Let us know where your products go and we’ll cover both.
Do you only work with Carlton Husthwaite businesses?
No. We work online and deliver across the UK, so it makes no difference where you’re based. Carlton Husthwaite orders go out by tracked courier to YO7.
Do you send samples?
Yes, we can. Request a sample pack and we’ll send it to you in Carlton Husthwaite, so you can feel the materials and finishes before you order.
What’s the smallest run you print?
No fixed minimum. Short runs from 250 labels are common for new products, and you can combine several designs in one order.
Which material is best for a protein tub?
Laminated white PP. It copes with powder, moisture and handling, and stays put on curved plastic.
