Supplement labelling rules for Macmerry
Products you sell from Macmerry must meet the Food Supplements (Scotland) Regulations 2003, regulated nationally by Food Standards Scotland. In East Lothian, food labelling is enforced by the council’s trading standards or environmental health team.
Scotland has its own food regulator, but the supplement labelling rules match England and Wales, so one label works across Great Britain.
A good first step is our label requirements checklist, then check your health claims, %NRV figures and nutrient guides.

Questions from Macmerry brands
When will my labels arrive in Macmerry?
Usually the next working day after dispatch. Printing takes 3 to 5 working days after you approve the proof, so most Macmerry orders arrive about a week after you send artwork.
What label suits a powder tub?
White polypropylene with a laminate. It copes with powder, moisture and handling, and stays put on curved plastic.
Who checks supplement labels in East Lothian?
Supplement labelling is enforced by the local council’s trading standards or environmental health team for East Lothian, overseen nationally by Food Standards Scotland. If you want assured advice, consider a Primary Authority partnership with a council.
What’s the smallest run you print?
There’s no fixed minimum. Many new brands start with 250 labels, and you can combine several designs in one order.
Do you add batch numbers and best-before dates?
We can. Our digital press adds a batch code and date to each run, so you don’t need a separate coder for short runs.
